Multi-Genre Maze Runner Blog

Dear readers,
The theme I chose for this book was survival. I chose this theme for many reasons, mainly because that’s what the story is about. At the beginning of the book Thomas who is the main character is sitting in a Lift, and has no idea who he is except for what his name is. When he exits the lift there are many boys around his same age surrounding him. Each person experienced the same thing he did. They call them self’s the gladers and they have a leader and people who have different parts in the group. Some have to go off into the maze and look for food and other useful things. Others stay back and scavenge the area for things to use as weapons and useful stuff. This is what tells me that the theme of this book is survival.

Journal Entry
Dear journal,
Im not sure what the day is, but it is my first day in the Glade. Im not sure who these people are but it looks like they haven’t bathed in weeks. I have many questions for them, like how did I get here, and what is going on. No one answers me, they just say that I have now interred the glade. The leader of these new people I have come across is alby he seems to be much older than me and knows much more than everyone else, he must have been here for a while. This person named newt seems to be the second in command, he seems much more cooler than alby. Well everyone is telling me I need to get some sleep. I hope tomorrow I can get some more answers to my questions.

I chose this genre to go with my theme because it helps show what Thomas was thinking in his mind. Some difficulties I came across was what to say and what order to say it in because he has many questions once in the glade, and I only had a few ways to tell them.

1. Find other survivors
2. Get acquainted with those survivors

4. Make a plan to survive
5. Find a safe area to stay
6. Inside your safe area look for food
7. Find a useful water source that is clean
8. Gather items that can be used as weapons

I chose this genre to go with my theme because it helps show the way the people in the glade somewhat survived. Some difficulties I came across was that I could not find 10 ways they did survive in the glade so I had to imagine what it was like for the first person in the glade had to survive.

I chose this list to tell how many of the glade runners were when in the glade. I couldn’t find many life lessons in the book but I used a lot of information in the story to form this list .



I chose these pictures for this collage because it shows what should be needed to survive a disaster situation. I had trouble finding some good pictures to use for a survival collage and decided to use these pictures to best show survival.

Story

It was june 6, 2052 at 1:30 AM. Det. Jones was asleep at his home A few feet from the nations capital, Washington D.C. A emergency phone call was sent to his house at 1:35 A.M.The Officer said their was a 519 in progress at the old newton bank. Det. Jones quickly got dressed and ran outside to see that the bank was truly being robbed. Jones swiftly ran to the officer holding the mega phone and snatched it from him and said

"Son, this is the police, come out with your hands up."

No one replied, Then a few minutes later the robber announced that the building was wired with C4. S.W.A.T. was Then alerted 10 minutes later S.W.A.T. arrived. Det. Jones notified the S.W.A.T. team what was going on, and the S.W.A.T.team decided to move up to the bank to breach it. Right when they reached the front steps a gun shot went off from inside the bank. The robber had shot a woman civilian inside the bank. Thirty minutes later the S.W.A.T. team tries again and once again the robber shoots a woman. The S.W.A.T. team is tired of this so they just rush the building shooting blindly into the air. Luckily no one else was hurt, the S.W.A.T. team searched every room but they didn't find anything. One of the officers had to brake the news to Det. Jones.

"We couldn't find anything sir. No signs of him even being here."

"THERE HAS TO BE SOMETHING"

Shouted Det. Jones

"Sir the president wants to see you"

Says one of the officers

"Sure Right after I talk to someone"

Det. Jones is walking down 5th ave. with so many questions in his head and he knows their is only one person who can answer them. Det. Jones walks into a ally way and creeped around a corners and sees a trash can with sounds coming from it, so he skulked up to it and he pulled out his gun, Then he opened the trash can and swiftly pointed his gun at the man he found in their. Mr. Potter is his name but his friends call him Mr. Pott the drug dealer. Det. Jones had his gun pointed right at Mr. Pott. He only had time to ask him 1 question.

"Who robbed the old newton bank"

asked Jones

"I don't know anything"

replied Mr. Pott

So Det. Jones hits him with the butt of the gun and asks him 1 more time.

"It was Bank Robber Joe, he lives at the barber shop"

replied Mr. pott

"Thanks, Ill see yo around. Oh and stay off the drugs"

"Wait don't you want to know who hired him?"

The Detective turns around and shoots Mr. Pott in the head and says

"Nah. I think I already know who it is"

Det. Jones returns to the crime seen and sees the accountant that had been put through this terrible robbery. Jones runs up to her and asks.

"Excuse me Ma'am, were you the accountant that had been robbed?"

"Yes'um that was me, names uh kim"

"are you ok?"

"Oh I feel fine its just im startled ya see"

"good, can you tell me some stuff about the man who did this"

"Sure, he was really short and had a long beard to his feet, he was sorta creepy"

"Thanks, Ma'am that's all I need"

The Det. Goes to the barber shop, when he arrives their he walks in side all nonchalant and sees that Bank Robber Joe had been stabbed in the neck.

"RATS".

yelled Jones

"Its time to end this piece of poop"

Det. Jones starts to head to the white house to have a little meeting with the president. When he arrives the guards ask for his ID, and tell him

" Sir the president has been expecting you, go strait and make a left into the first room"

"Thanks"

replied Jones

Det. Jones walks down the hall and turns left into the first door, which was the presidents office and the president says

"Det. Jones Ive been expecting you, take a seat. Would you like some cheese"

"Nah im good"

replied Jones

Then on impulse Jones pulled out his gun and put a bullet into president nickolovskis head. Surprisingly no one heard the gun shot in the building, not even the guards waiting outside. Det. Jones leaves the white house and goes home to his wife and kids to live a better safer life.

Last week was cool, I got to sit next to Nick and Alex it was cool, and we got to read about some robots and other AWESOME stuff. Yeah this whole fantasy and science fiction unit we are doing is just a BLAST!!! I hope we watch some cool movies like star wars or star trek or something because i hate reading about little robots that want to take over the world.

Thank god that midterms are over, and thank god i passed all of them. Yesterday Ms. Potter showed a awful video of some geek singing lame songs about super old cartoon shows. It didnt even show He-man..... so thats what made it lame. We are also learning commas,,,,,, colons :::::::::: and semi-colons;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;. Its probably the best thing we are learning, I just love learning about punctuations. Right now im watching currage the cowardly dog its one sweet show, it beats the crap out of that cat show that mr potter likes so much....

Compare and contrast

NightJohn is about a slave that was bought for $1000 and girl named sarny that wants to learn how to read in exchange for tobacco. The girl once found a penny and mammy told her to hide it, Her and mammy always pray in the kettle. Old waller is the master and he is the one who bought nightjohn. nightjohn is the one teaching sarny ABC's for tobacco.

Mascot is about Malcolm when he was 13 in 1937 and he weighed 128 pounds and was in the ring versing a white man. The ring is the only place where a negro wouldnt get lynched for beating a white man. He got sent to a reform school for putting a tack on his teachers chair and his teacher sitting on it. Reform means change and to become better. English and history was his favorite classes. In the 7th grade he became the class president. When he was 16 he caught the buss to Boston in 1940. Malcolm told his english teacher he wanted to be a lawyer.

The great debaters is more like Mascot because He went to Boston where main events happens in the movie. Malcolm also wanted to be a lawyer just like one of the characters in the movie. Malcolm was also around the same age as one of the debaters in the movie. The great debaters is like nightjohn only because their was a lot of racism in that story and their was many parts of the movie where their was Negros being harassed or killed.

the past week was beast

We watched this movie and it was by far the best movie ever, it really changed the way i look at debaters. Those people are really really really good at debating. I would hate to be their opponents. I love where my seat is its awesome i sit in front of bailey, man is that gurl crazy. She is always makin weird faces at, it kinda freaks me out somtimes.
